High Voltage DC Capacitors
These capacitors are primarily used as filters in the output of high voltage DC power supplies. They can be used in broadcast and radar power supplies, and other high voltage DC supplies. Construction is paper/polypropylene with an environmentally compatible impregnant. Drawn cases are made of plated steel, with an optional rugged epoxy paint finish. Welded cases are mild steel with an epoxy finish. Stainless steel cases are available in the welded can sizes. Plastic cases are made from polypropylene. Brackets and bushings are available in a wide variety of configurations. Operating temperature range is -40 to +85 degrees C. Where AC ripple voltage is present, the sum of the peak AC and the DC voltage should not exceed the capacitors rated voltage. Additionally, the AC component should not exceed the following percentage of the DC voltage:
20 % at 60 Hz
10 % at 400 Hz
5 % at 1 kHz
1 % at 10 kHz
Typical insulation resistance at 25 degrees C is 25,000 megohm-microfarads. Standard capacitance tolerance is 10 %.
