Induction Heating Capacitors

CH Types

High Energy’s CH type capacitors are specifically designed for use in very high power, high frequency circuits. They are primarily used in 100 kHz to 450 kHz applications as the resonant capacitors for the load. Type CH capacitors utilize metallized polypropylene dielectric technology for self healing capability and very low dielectric losses. The design of the CH series capacitors maximizes current carrying ability and heat transfer to the busbar. There are a variety of mounting options available, including metric or English threads, and additional holes to allow series stacking of capacitors.Contact plates are silver plated copper .Our CH type capacitors are an economical and efficient replacement for power mica type capacitors. To utilize these capacitors at full rated power, they must be mounted on water cooled busbars. The minimum cooling required is 250 ml/min. of water to each side of the capacitor. The water exit temperature must be less than 45o C.

AR Types

High Energy’s AR type  high powered water cooled capacitors are designed for use in solid state induction heating power supplies. We manufacture both high current DC filters and the high frequency capacitors that are used to tune the load of the induction heater. The DC filters are manufactured using metallized technology that maximizes capacitance per unit volume, and provides self healing ability. The tuning capacitors are manufactured using special polypropylene film and ultra-pure aluminum foil to minimize dissipation factor and I2R losses, maximize cooling and current carrying ability. The impregnants are specially designed for low losses, long life, and environmental compatibility. Capacitors come equipped with a pressure sensitive switch that is normally closed. If a fault occurs inside the capacitor, and pressure builds inside the case, this switch should be used to shut down the inverter.Generally these capacitors have multiple sections, with 1/2-13 copper studs as terminals for each tap, and with the cooling coil and/or the case being the common connection.Cases are fabricated aluminum.Capacitors are available in frequencies up to 50 kHz, and voltages up 2000 volts RMS. Cooling water required is 1 GPM (3.8 liters / min.)  at a maximum exit temperature of 45 o C.
